Description
This beautiful wall print captures the charm and history of Chalmers Street in downtown Charleston SC.
The story behind Chalmers Street is as charming as the street itself. In the early 1800s, the city of Charleston passed a law requiring pregnant women to ride in carriages rather than walk on the cobblestone streets. This was because the cobblestones were thought to be too rough on pregnant women's feet.
The law was eventually repealed, but the tradition of pregnant women riding on Chalmers Street has continued. Today, many pregnant women still choose to ride on Chalmers Street, even though the cobblestones are no longer considered to be dangerous.
This print would make a perfect addition to any home decor, whether you're a fan of Charleston or simply love beautiful streetscapes. It would also be a great gift for anyone who loves to travel or has a special connection to Charleston.
